Ugly Sweater follows Ruby, a high school senior determined to study astrophysics at an Ivy League college. But as her anxiety intensifies, it begins manifesting in vivid dreams, triggered by a seemingly magical ugly Christmas sweater.
Filmed in Boston (my home, yay) from October to November 2023, Ugly Sweater is a unique blend of live-action and animation, with select scenes beautifully shot on film. It is both visually stunning and heartfelt. It also marked my first feature film role as an Assistant Editor and DIT, a milestone that means so much to me.
While my role may have been smaller, I'm extremely proud to have been part of this project. I managed the file organization, proxy creation, audio syncing, dailies, and capturing stills, all crucial elements in bringing this film to life. Seeing it go on to win awards has been incredibly rewarding, and I'll always be grateful for the experience.
Most importantly, working under Lauren was an absolute honor. She is truly one of the greatest directors I've ever had the chance to collaborate with. <3
